Product and service innovations are an important part of accessing new markets, generating business growth and improving the lives of those living in India’s low-income communities.
Discovering, enhancing and rewarding these innovations – like solar light systems or affordable rural hospital services – is key to unleashing opportunity for entrepreneurs, experts or investors and for those at the bottom of India’s economic pyramid.
The Samridhi Social Enterprise Recognition & Regional Summit is a collaborative initiative between Intellecap, DFID, and GIZ, aims to recognize and bringing forth scalable and investible enterprises from the poorest states in India. The summit will be held on 16 October 2012 in Patna, Bihar.
Since 2009, the annually held Sankalp Forum has created a community of over 10,000 stakeholders comprising social entrepreneurs, impact investors, corporations, academics and policymakers to catalyse the flow of capital to sustainable and scalable enterprises in India. With the Sankalp Forum-Samridhi Social Enterprise Regional Summit, the forum will bring together active stakeholders to deliberate on and promote a more inclusive ecosystem for social enterprises in the underserved regions.
Over 50 enterprises applied to the recognition across three sectors - Agriculture, Food and Rural Business; Basic Services (Education; Health, Water & Sanitation); and Clean Energy. Ten enterprises were selected as Finalists and including 3 enterprises that impact women. All finalist enterprises will receive recognition, a chance to win the cash grant of INR 7 Lacs, extensive capacity building inputs over the period of the next few months and intensive one-on-one mentoring.
